New Minister to Students

Mt. Gilead is proud to announce the calling of Michael Sawyer to serve as Minister to Students. His effective date is May 12, 2008.

Michael is a candidate for graduation from Howard Payne University on May 10, 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Education. He graduated from Haltom High School in 2005. He has most recently served in Youth Ministry positions at Mullin, Texas and Bangs, Texas.

He was licensed to the ministry by Shady Oaks Baptist Church, Hurst, Texas in May 2005.

He is a member of Phi Kappa Chi and likes basketball and softball.

He is engaged to be married to Shawna McCalman on December 20, 2008.

Philosophy of Ministry

Youth Ministry consists of ministry to three groups; students, their parents and families, and volunteer leaders. All three groups will be equipped to enable youth to; know who Jesus is (John 1:1-5, 11:25-26), respond to His call for salvation (Romans 10:9-10), develop a Christ-like life (John 14:12), and further God's Kingdom (Matthew 28:19-20).
