The mission trip was an incredible experience. You could really feel the prayers surrounding Comanche Community Rehab protecting you through the weather, worship and work time. Personally, God revealed to me a way to submit my plans and my lifestyle in order to receive His plan, His joy and His peace, like a broken horse.
Having just spent a week at Student Life Camp, I wasn't really expecting to have a great time because I was so exhausted. When we first arrived, we were late as we walked into the assembly at Comanche High School. Afterwards we met our crews, which were somewhat awkward becasue nobody knew what to expect, small town lifestyle with our metropolitan youth. Through the week, I was able to bond with my crew of complete strangers and eventually a bond of friendship began to form and the group became very comfortable and fun to hang out with. God put everyone in place according to His plan so everyone could learn from everyone else. It is tryly amazing how much our group had in common, something like that can only be God's work. For me, the most amazing connection I had was with our crew chief that I shared a strangely uncommon music interest with. And somehow, God put me in his group to discuss Christ's miracles through the common interest in music. It was truly unlikely to meet a man in his mid-forties who listens to the same music I love. Another extremely softening point in my week involved my worship experience with the band. The lead singer had such a passion for Christ that was radiant as well as extremely contagious. God just flooded me during that time with maturity and His biblical truth. Despite my reservations prior to our arrival, Comanche Rehab blossomed into a life-changing and eye-opening experience.
