“Taking God’s Word Home”
At the Mount, we believe it’s crucial for parents to take the lead in their children’s spiritual development. For this reason, we provide two important resources for children in kindergarten through fourth grade every week in children’s church. Each resource—the fridge door and God time cards—provides easy ways for parents to connect to their children using God’s Word.
The Fridge Door Card outlines the month’s virtue, memory verse, the week’s Bible story, and a conversation starter parents can use with their children. Each month, we focus on a virtue—a biblical characteristic that we see modeled in Scripture—and one memory verse. Each of the lessons throughout the month relates to the virtue; and for each lesson, there’s a question for you and your kids (Yes, you have homework too!) to answer and discuss, giving real-life relevance to what they learned.
The God Time Card is a series of short devotionals for kids to use throughout the week. They’re designed to appeal to kids of many ages. And while younger kids aren’t usually mature enough to have “God time” on their own, they’re very easy for parents to read aloud and do with their child.
Using the Fridge Door and God Time Cards every week will not only give you a great idea of what your kids are learning at church, but they are also great tools for you to begin discipling your children. These cards are available to you at the check-in table when you pick your kids up at children’s church.
